Description
Dr Elkhatim Elyas is a Consultant Chest Physician. He is currently the President of the Sudan Medical Council, the highest medical regulatory authority in the country. He was responsible for safeguarding high medical education and medical practice standards and upholding professionalism and medical ethics. Before he assumed this post, he was an SMC consultant overseeing the complaint system and the medical professionalism program leader. Earlier, he worked as Director of Quality, Federal Ministry of Health. During his tenure, he contributed fundamental documents translating the principles of health care quality into medical practice. Dr Alyas graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, the University of Khartoum, trained in Community Health in the UK, working in Saudi Arabia and various regions of Sudan. His clinical work in different parts inland and abroad allowed him to develop insight into ethnic and cultural diversity as a source of strength.
